Avengers: Endgame coins hidden under cinema seats on opening day - did you get one?

In a surprise move by Disney that many were probably unaware, exclusive Avengers: Endgame coins were given out to local cinema operators to reward fans for watching the film on its opening day (April 24).

The film marked an end to 11 years of emotional investment and 21 feature films, with cinema websites crashing the moment ticket sales opened in Singapore earlier this month.

Excitement ran high as fans couldn't wait to find out what happens to the Avengers.

What happens to Thanos? What happens to the original six that we've come to love over the past 11 years? Does Iron Man and Captain America survive?

Amidst the burning questions that filled everyone's minds at the premiere, the one thing they probably weren't expecting was to be rewarded for their passion.

According to redditor bernard1994, he found his exclusive purple coin at the 6.30pm screening at The Cathay.

In a follow-up comment, he wrote: "Was wondering if it was an opening day thing or only limited to certain venues.

"My friends who watched elsewhere on opening day before me weren’t aware of this and didn’t search under their seats.

"There was a coin stuck under every seat at Cathay Hall 5 for the 6.30pm showing."

AsiaOne understands that cinema operators were told to distribute them to those who attended the first sold-out screening of the day.

All were purple coins except for one golden coin which will entitle the lucky cinema-goer to redeem exclusive Avengers: Endgame movie premiums.

A spokesperson for Cathay Cineplexes told AsiaOne that they did a short announcement prior to the start of the show and asked the audience to check underneath their seats for the coin.

A total of 133 coins were given out by Cathay Cineplexes for that screening.

In response to a commenter's query on Reddit, bernard1994 revealed that he won't be selling his but fret not, there's at least one listing on Carousell for $50.

However, it's not the golden coin.

This collectible coin also seems to be similar to the one that is a part of a giveaway conducted in the US for an opening night fan event (April 26, Singapore time).

If you're thinking of digging around in the dark under your seats tonight to find a coin, you might be disappointed to know that this giveaway was only exclusive to opening day on the 24th. 

Don't worry though, because you're not alone.

It may not have been a “one in 14 million chance” (Avengers fans will get the reference) but no one in the AsiaOne team who went for the premiere screenings was lucky enough either.
