Seventeen's Mingyu in Singapore for event

Mingyu from K-pop group Seventeen is in Singapore today (Aug 1) for a private brand event.

Yesterday, the 28-year-old posted on his Instagram Story: "See ya Gentle Monster in Singapore," tagging the eyewear brand, and later shared a photo of the Singapore Flyer.

Today, Carats (fans of Seventeen) posted footage of Mingyu, dressed in a tight grey t-shirt and sporting a pair of glasses, at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, where the store is located.

In one video, he can be seen waving to fans and then miming that he'll be going into the shop and will be back out again.

In another, he can be seen asking fans to go eat before he runs off for his work engagements.

Babymonster's Chiquita receives hate presumably over Thai nationality

Babymonster member Chiquita received a slew of hateful comments on her Weverse post yesterday.

Despite only sharing photos of herself and one that said "Love yourself first" yesterday, the 16-year-old K-pop singer was met with hostile comments from anonymous accounts calling her a "wh*re" and a "slut".

Fans were enraged at the negative sexual comments left about the minor, and some posted on X for others to leave nicer comments and report the hateful ones.

The hate may have been over Chiquita being Thai, as there were some comments left about the recent border conflict between Thailand and Cambodia.

Fans also noted that Chiquita has changed her profile picture to a cat winking with its tongue out, which hopefully meant that she was unbothered by the negativity.

Jeon Somi recounts long chat with ghost

Korean-Canadian singer Jeon Somi believes she can see the paranormal.

In a YouTube video posted to her channel on July 27, the 24-year-old recounted her first time meeting a ghost. She was having difficulty sleeping and had heard someone crying, which made her irritated rather than scared.

The noise was coming from her bathroom, and when Somi entered, she initially didn't spot anything there until she focused hard. Her vision shifted to show her an old-timey bathroom with a woman's figure squatting and crying inside.

She reenacted how she had asked the woman questions at a rapid speed about how long she'd been there and why she was crying, noting: "Sorry, it's just that you're the first ghost in my life."

Somi also said she'd hear the ghost's story out, and put on her charms after noticing she was good-looking.

"I'm sorry unnie (older sister), but you look so pretty," she told her paranormal visitor. "You shouldn't be crying here now. Of course, fortunately I'm listening to your story and I'm giving my all to make you laugh, but don't go anywhere crying.

"Your looks don't deserve to be tied up here. Please go anywhere you like and keep your smile."

After the impromptu therapy session, Somi told the ghost she was going back to sleep and not to tell anyone, presumably other ghosts, about their encounter as Somi was only willing to listen to her this one time.

She also gave her a heads-up that she would be "sanitising" her home with sage so the ghost could leave before she got hurt.
