Mat Yeung and Lisa Ch'ng mourn death of her ex-actress mother

Datin Kong Yuk Chu, mother of Malaysian actress-model Lisa Ch'ng and TVB actress Jacquelin Ch'ng, has died at the age of 78.

The news was published in Instagram posts by the two sisters as well as Lisa's husband, Hong Kong actor-host Mat Yeung, on Aug 25.

They wrote the same caption in their posts: "It is with deep sorrow and a heavy heart that we share that our beloved and respected mother has left us, completing her life journey surrounded by family and friends. We will always love you and miss you mum.

"We kindly ask for space and time for our family and request that you respect our mother's memory. We are unable to receive enquiries or respond to messages at this time. Thank you for your understanding."

Lisa also posted an Instagram Story with a photo of Yuk Chu on a wheelchair taken during Mat and her wedding day on Aug 2.

The 39-year-old wrote: "I miss you so much mum. I hope that there's no more suffering in heaven and you can be happy and have fun with dad. We love you very, very much.

"Mama, I will miss you forever."

Jacquelin, 46, included in her post photos she took together with her mum and with other family and friends over the years.

Yuk Chu was a former Hong Kong actress with a brief career in showbiz. After leaving showbiz, she married Malaysian property and real estate tycoon Datuk Bill Ch'ng and they had four children.

Datuk Ch'ng died in 2023 aged 82.

Her wake will be held from Aug 30 and the funeral service on Sept 1 in Kuala Lumpur.
