Surprise! You Chiu-hsing, one half of Taiwanese rock band Power Station, is a swinging bachelor no more.

The veteran singer got engaged on Friday (March 1) to his girlfriend Jenny in Tainan.

Among the guests at the engagement party were his longtime bandmate Yen Chih-lin, his wife, and their two daughters.

Chih-lin also invited the groom-to-be onstage to belt out their hit song, Rainbow.

Chiu-hsing, who turned 50 last month, was all smiles at the party and praised his fiancee for being a wonderful woman.

The pair met through friends and often went out for meals together. But it was only a year later that Chiu-hsing mustered up the courage to pursue Jenny.

What brought the couple together was their common love for dogs, Chiu-hsing said.

Once, she injured her ankle while playing volleyball and was unable to walk her dog. That gave him the chance to offer his help. After that, they took their furkids out on more walks and love blossomed between the two.

At the engagement ceremony, Chiu-hsing thanked his wife-to-be for accepting him and promised his future in-laws that he would take good care of their daughter.

Intensely private about his love life, the singer is only known to have dated a writer for 10 years before they went on their separate ways in 2004.
