Stephen Chow secretly married? Here's what ex-flame Karen Mok said

Another day, another rumour.

Despite being immensely private, director-actor Stephen Chow has been the subject of many rumours, especially when it comes to his love life.

In January 2019, he was rumoured to be the mysterious father of actress Cecilia Cheung's third child.

Now, he's rumoured to be married.

Since his breakup with longtime girlfriend — construction heiress Yu Wenfeng — in 2010, the 57-year-old has apparently remained single.

However, the rumour mill started grinding last Monday (July 15), when a former entertainment reporter in Hong Kong asserted that Stephen was married.

In response to a netizen's question on Weibo on how Stephen's movie will fare at the box office, the reporter replied: "With the encouragement of his new wife, Stephen’s fighting spirit will reignite once more.

"After being starved of Stephen’s acting for a number of years, the audience will definitely be excited. I believe that the box office takings will soar.”

The response sent netizens into a frenzy as they thought that the 'King of Comedy' had married in secret. They took to social media to send him their blessings and well-wishes.

Yet, there were some who cast doubt on the claim and requested for proof.

WHAT DOES EX-FLAME KAREN MOK HAVE TO SAY?

When asked about the rumour on Wednesday (July 24) by Hong Kong media at a charity art exhibition, ex-flame Karen Mok admitted that she had heard about it but was unable to confirm its veracity.

"He's very mysterious! You all should ask him!" the singer-actress laughed.

Since she contributed to You're The Best In The World (the promotional song for Stephen's 2016 film The Mermaid), Karen has not seen Stephen at all.

She feels that the rumours aren't very credible, but if they turned out to be true, she mentioned that she wouldn't be surprised.

After all, she thinks that he's getting on in years and should settle down.

Karen said: "If it's true, then congratulations!"

Incidentally, it's been reported that Stephen's assistant clarified that the rumours are fake.
