Crispy rendang chicken? Malaysian chef says 'Why not?"

Crispy rendang chicken? Malaysian chef says 'Why not?"

While everyone's bickering over how chicken rendang is not supposed to be crispy, a chef in Malaysia has done just that.

She whipped up a dish that has a fried chicken drumstick topped with rendang sauce and shared the photo of the dish on her Facebook page on Wednesday (April 4).

From the looks of it, crispy rendang chicken's pretty yummy.

"Here you go 'MASTERCHEF, (here's) your kind of crispy rendang chicken dream come true," Yenni Law from a restaurant in Kuala Lumpur wrote, poking fun at Gregg Wallace who came under fire for his "not crispy enough" remark while judging a Malaysian contestant's nasi lemak dish in a recent episode of MasterChef UK.

The witty post garnered over 200 likes with many netizens asking Law how they could get a taste of the new dish.

That led the chef to share her recipe in another post and invite others to create their own versions. "Sharing is caring," she said.

With the popularity of her Facebook posts, it appears that the item has actually made it to her restaurant's menu as a "Chef's special".

Who knows, this might just spark the next food trend.
