Humanity that transcends differences

Humanity that transcends differences

The Government has done much over the years to promote racial and religious harmony.

Over the last few years, my husband and I have been fortunate to experience humanity at its finest.

Our child is of mixed race and, growing up, has played with neighbours and gained friends of different races and faiths.

The parents of these children have helped unconditionally - babysitting and feeding our child, and picking her up from school when we were stuck at work or just needed time to go on a date.

Our child has learnt and experienced at first hand the wonderful cultures of her friends and their families - something textbooks could never teach.

There is humanity that transcends differences, a basic human kindness that leads people to look out for others regardless of race and religion.

As Singapore looks forward to its jubilee year, we must continue to embrace one another, for we are becoming more diverse with each new generation.
