Fancy running a hotel in Singapore? This boutique farmstay in Changi is now up for sale

Tucked away from the city's usual hustle and bustle is House of Melissa — a boutique farmstay in Changi Village complete with its own seafront deck, edible garden and even beehives.
And now, it's looking for a new owner.
In an Instagram post on Sunday (Oct 4), owners Clarence Chua and Candice Li announced that House of Melissa is up for sale.
"Take over our profitable, market-ready boutique farmstay that you can actually live in too," the husband-and-wife pair wrote.
The decision to sell the property comes as The Sundowner — the couple's nature experience centre — moves into a larger location.
"We are letting it go as The Sundowner's move from Siglap to our new centre at Old Bukit Timah Fire Station has given us all the space we need."
Viewings are available from now until end November, with the pair hoping to find an interested buyer by Dec 1.
So, what can you expect at the House of Melissa?
In a video accompanying the announcement, Clarence and Candice gave a tour of the property — which they described as Singapore's "only farmstay".

The boutique hotel can house up to nine guests across three bedrooms — including one with a queen-sized bed for two, another with two single beds and a third with two bunk beds.
There are two bathrooms on the property, though they are not ensuite.
For gatherings, the property offers a place they call the Green Room. It can serve as a meeting space or for hosting parties.
Much of House of Melissa's charm lies in its outdoor areas — where it's "buzzing with hornbills, chickens and bees", said Clarence in the video.

This is an apiary where over 10 beehives are kept.
"Who knows, you could even harvest honey after some time," he added.
He said that the bees also help pollinate flowers around the surrounding garden, including the banana flower, which results in fruits that can be used for farm tours.
Also on the grounds is the Food Garden — where papaya, jackfruit, tapioca and coconuts grow.
According to Clarence, the area was initially an empty field, which they overhauled and planted a variety of edible fruits, flowers, herbs and spices including mulberries.
For those who enjoy a morning cuppa, the edible garden also houses coffee plants.
"Yes, you can grow coffee in Singapore. We've managed to do it," Clarence said, adding that the new owners would also have the option of running coffee roasting experiences on the property.
Another highlight of the property is its private seafront deck — which offers unobstructed waterfront views free from buildings, roads or cars.
"Instead, all you can see are yachts from Singapore Yacht Club," the owner said.

An outdoor movie screen is also available in the area, where guests can gather for entertainment.

It can also serve as a wedding venue, Clarence added.
From the property, a private staircase leads directly down to the seafront — a feature the owners said was one of the reasons they were drawn to the hotel initially.
Here, guests can do beach walks, go kayaking, as well as head out for expeditions into Changi Creek.
Urging interested buyers to step forward, Clarence said: "If you want to run a hotel with so much life, quiet sunsets and beautiful spaces, this is your opportunity."
First opened in 2024 by the duo, House of Melissa is a pet-friendly boutique farmstay located within the Civil Service Club at Changi Village.
It is named after Melissa Evelin — a fictional British explorer conceptualised by the couple.
The pair also runs The Sundowner, a nature experience centre in Bukit Timah offering activities such as a pizza-making experience and rooftop farm experience.
