Popular Bookstore will be shuttering two of its outlets soon.

Its VivoCity and Jurong Point outlets will be closing on Aug 16 and Sept 13 respectively, a spokesperson from Popular Bookstore told AsiaOne.

These closures are due to the shopping malls' retail plans, the spokesperson explained.

Posts on social media have been showing these outlets offering discounts ahead of the closures.

Some deals at the VivoCity outlet include the Nintendo Switch priced at $369 (UP $549) and Sudio speakers going at two for $49 (UP $149 each) and discounts on other electronics.

According to the bookstore chain, the VivoCity branch's moving out sale is on till its last day. The Jurong Point branch will be holding its moving out sale starting Aug 14.

The Vivocity outlet opened in 2018, while the Jurong Point outlet has been operating for more than 30 years.

In line with Popular Bookstore's commitment to serving local communities, it will be returning to Hougang Mall with a brand-new store opening on Sept 4, the spokesperson added.

It had previously closed its store there as the mall was undergoing major renovations.

This will bring the brand's total store count in Singapore to 26.
