Singapore-based reality TV show contestant dishes out tips to ace the dating game

Dating isn't easy, which is why we're always on the lookout for tips regardless of the stage of a relationship we're at. Sure, our girlfriends may give really sound advice, but sometimes, we just wanna hear it from a guy.

Which is why we decided to get dating tips from a man who is on a reality dating TV show.

Tony Zarski (@tonyzarski) is representing Singapore on Travel For Love, a 10-part series currently airing on TLC that features five micro-influencers going on blind dates in five cities around the region.

The 29-year-old professes to have dated "quite a bit" and that he doesn't let bad dates or breakups stop him from trying to find someone special.

And as someone who's no stranger to constantly meeting new people in pursuit of love, he's got a few dating tips to share.

1. Don't be quick to close yourself off

"Be open to dating someone you wouldn’t normally date. You never know who you’ll meet, and how they can surprise you."

2. Don't be afraid to goof off

"Don’t take yourself too seriously. You can always use humour to lighten up a situation."

3. Don't be afraid to make the first move

"We actually appreciate it if a girl initiates. During my first blind date on the show, my date Quennie gave me a gift. I thought it was extremely cute and thoughtful - it’s something I’ll definitely remember!"

4. Don't be afraid to be alone

"In order to be happy with someone, you should first know how to be happy by yourself."

5. Don't be glued to your phone

"I find it attractive when a girl avoids looking at her phone during a date and enjoys the present moment - it says quite a bit about her. Save the IG post for later."
