Boy in Malaysia dies after getting run over and dragged for 10m by mum in car

A three-year-old boy was killed after his mother allegedly ran him over, and dragged him for about 10 metres during an accident.

The incident happened at around 12.30pm on Wednesday (Feb 14) outside the woman's home in Jalan Ketapang, Malaysia.

After the accident, the boy was rushed to Hospital Penawar Pasir Gudang, and was pronounced dead upon arrival.

A family friend told the New Straits Times, that the boy’s mother, in her 30s, didn’t realise that the child was in front of the car.

As a result, she ran the boy over and dragged the boy for a distance.

Said the friend: "She thought her youngest child was in the house with his four siblings. Her husband was also in the house at the time.

"She only suspected something amiss after driving for about several metres.

"When she came out of the vehicle, she was shocked to find her son under the vehicle."

The family immediately rushed the boy to the hospital, but it was already too late.

The boy’s mother told reporters that she initially thought that she was dragging some garbage which had gotten stuck to the car’s undercarriage.

The traumatised woman added: "I'm still confused by what happened. When I left, he was still in the house."

In response to media queries, Seri Alam district deputy police chief, Deputy Superintendent Norazam Shaari, confirmed the incident.
