A 63-year-old woman was hit by a car while buying breakfast in Luyang, Kota Kinabalu in Sabah on Tuesday (Oct 6) morning, reported local media.

Video footage of the incident circulating on social media shows the woman walking towards a food stall at about 6.30am when a car parked behind her suddenly moves forward, crashing into her and the stall.

Both the driver and a passenger were reportedly inside the car at the time.

Kota Kinabalu assistant commissioner Shahrudin Mat Husain said initial investigations found that the male driver had failed to shift the gear into neutral when he parked, causing the car to move forward, according to The Star.

The woman reportedly suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital, while the driver is assisting with investigations.
