E-hailing fees at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) have been standardised at RM2 (S$0.60), effective Wednesday (Sept 16), Malaysian media reported.

The current fee is down from RM3 at Terminal 1 and RM2.16 at Terminal 2.

KLIA passenger experience senior general manager Abdul Hasman Abdul Muhimin told The Star that the revised fee gives passengers a single, consistent rate for e-hailing pick-ups across terminals.

"The standardisation is aimed at providing greater consistency and clarity for passengers and e-hailing operators, while supporting a more streamlined pick-up experience across both terminals," Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad stated.

This comes just a month after enhanced e-hailing facilities were implemented in Terminal 1, driving up operational performance for the airport, Berita Harian reported.

The airport said that 99.3 per cent of e-hailing drivers now complete passenger pick-ups and exit the area within the designated 10-minute grace period, compared to just under 50 per cent previously.

Peak-hour processing capacity has gone up from 302 to 660 vehicles per hour, indicating higher vehicle turnaround following the increase in passenger pick-up efficiency.

Meanwhile, daily vehicle volume entering the pick-up lanes dropped 13.5 per cent, from 8,124 to 7,024 vehicles, The New Straits Times reported.

"At KLIA, every part of the passenger journey matters, including the experience of getting to and from the airport," Abdul Hasman said.

"By providing passengers with a comfortable indoor space to wait and giving drivers clearer timeframes, we are seeing better compliance, faster vehicle turnover and improved traffic flow."

"Operational discipline and compliance will remain key to maintaining an orderly and convenient experience for everyone using our airport facilities," he added.

"We appreciate the co-operation of e-hailing operators and drivers as we continue to improve ground operations at KLIA."
