Malaysian man allegedly kills wife and 2 children before taking own life; death note cites $82,000 romance scam losses

A 48-year-old Malaysian man allegedly murdered his wife and two children, aged nine and seven, before taking his own life by jumping from a condominium building on Thursday (Aug 27).

According to the New Straits Times, police received a report at about 3.32pm of a man believed to have fallen from a residential building near Persiaran Residen.

With the assistance of the Fire and Rescue Department, the police gained entry to the family's condominium unit in Desa ParkCity.

There, officers found the bodies of the man's 47-year-old wife and their two children in separate rooms. Preliminary investigations found all three had suffered severe neck injuries. 

Police also recovered a knife believed to have been used in the killings.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus has since revealed the contents of a note left by the man, in which he reportedly expressed distress and regret over his 47-year-old wife's involvement with a love scammer.

He wrote that she allegedly left the family with a debt of RM260,000 (S$82,000).

"The wife was said to have continually attempted to contact the scammer, and the suspect felt her actions had gone too far, causing him shame in front of their children," said the chief, as quoted by The Star.

“A knife and a pair of gloves, believed to have been used in the killings, were found inside a drawer in the master bedroom.”
