Data from the Malaysia's Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) shows the district recording an Air Pollutant Index (API) of 222 at 6pm.
The API reading in Serian at 8pm was 229.
Meanwhile, eight other districts in Sarawak have recorded air quality in the unhealthy range: Kuching (183), Samarahan (188), Sri Aman (190), Sarikei (159), Sibu (154), Mukah (126), Bintulu (157), and Samalaju (155).
The data also shows that air quality across states in Peninsular Malaysia is between the good and moderate range.
Malaysian authorities categorise API readings of zero to 50 as good.
The other categories are moderate (51 to 100), unhealthy (101 to 200), very unhealthy (201 to 300), and hazardous (301 and above).
A measurement of 500 is the threshold for declaring an emergency.
Malaysia declared an emergency in Serian on Sept 4 after the API crossed 500.
It was subsequently lifted on Sept 7.
