Renovation contractor in Malaysia wins over RM10m windfall after betting on dream-inspired numbers

A renovation contractor in Sarawak struck it big last month, winning RM10.17 million (S$3.19 million) in the Toto 4D Jackpot.

The 54-year-old, who had been spending about RM50 a week on Sports Toto Malaysia (STM Lottery Sdn Bhd) bets for the past 30 years, told local media Free Malaysia Today that his winning numbers, 8622 and 5765, were inspired by a dream. 

"I was having lunch near one of my renovation project sites when something made me decide to buy the numbers again," said the man to The Star.

The father of two reportedly said that he could not believe he had hit the jackpot. 

"It is something that I am still taking in," the man said in a statement issued by STM Lottery on Wednesday (Oct 7).

He said he is still undecided on how to spend his recent windfall, adding that he intends to plan carefully before making any major decisions.

"For now, I intend to keep the money prudently and set aside a portion for my children's future," he said.

On top of his RM10.17 million winning, the man also bagged a system play bonus of RM672.
