Woman flamed online after calling Johor Bahru firefighters 'idiots'

As flames engulfed a car in Johor Bahru, a woman fuelled the fire with her mouth.

In a Facebook video posted on Thursday (May 9), she can be heard yelling in Malay, "You're late getting here and you're slow in putting out the fire" at firemen who are seen walking around the burning vehicle.

"Idiots!" she added. It is unclear whether she is the owner of the car.

The fire and rescue department, which shared the clip, explained that when a car catches fire, a commanding officer has to assess the situation before firefighters can start extinguishing the flames.

This helps them to identify the positions of the fuel tank, car battery and other hazardous materials, in order to prevent firemen from getting injured by debris in case of an explosion.

Hundreds of Facebook users showed support for the fire and rescue department, writing comments such as "I hate the woman who's scolding them loudly, I feel like spraying water at her with the fire hose."

Some poked fun at the woman, saying that since her mouth moves faster than the firemen, she should use it to douse the flames if her house or car ever caught fire.

"If you're so capable, why don't you put on a fireman's uniform and extinguish the fire yourself? Then we can see how idiotic you are."
