Kate Hudson makes special appearance at star-studded Michael Kors Mandarin Gallery opening

Guess who was in town for the opening of Michael Kors' first flagship store in Southeast Asia?

Hollywood star Kate Hudson made a special - albeit short - appearance on Tuesday night (Nov 15), together with the American designer Kors himself at the Mandarin Gallery store, only to scoot off after a mere 8 minutes for a private dinner function.

And of course, Kors was spotted in his "always black" signature look - again - complete with black shades.

The Orchard Road store is the brand's first free-standing location in the region to offer a fully dedicated Michael Kors men's shop, located on the upper level of the 2-storey 7,000 sq ft space.

As you know, travel is Kors' greatest love. Hence you will see exclusive pieces around the store that are either travel-inspired or made for your travel needs in mind. You can expect glammed up, yet practical, versions of them that are so-very Michael Kors.

Regional and local celebrities, influencers and socialites were among the invited guests at the cocktail party last night.

Singer Nathan Hartono, who was also present to show off Michael Kors' men's collection, was in a charcoal wool outer jacket, black pullover, white cotton shirt, black trouser and black Lance hiking boots.

Others present include actress Julie Tan, fashion influencer Yoyo Cao, local designer Arissa Cheo, and fashionista Velda Tan, among others.

Earlier this week, an orchid was named after the fashion designer in commemoration of his new store here, which is the latest addition to the brand's stable of 881 retail stores worldwide.

The "Dendrobium Michael Kors" is also a nod to the designer’s contribution to the fashion world.

The New Yorker worked with Hudson in October on a campaign for the UN World Food Programme and had designed two electronic health trackers to sell in stores. For every piece sold, Kors will donate 100 meals to the UN.
