A peek inside Malaysian heiress Chryseis Tan's lavish wedding in Kyoto

30-year-old Chryseis Tan is not just your ordinary bride.

With over 350,000 followers on Instagram alone (@chrystan_x), she is not your average digital influencer either.

Chryseis is a Malaysian heiress. Daughter to Malaysian tycoon Vincent Tan of Berjaya Group, Chryseis is what one might call in this day and age, a "Crazy Rich Asian".

While her Instagram feed may make her seem as if she is constantly on vacation, the truth is, Chryseis is an executive director of Berjaya Assets, expanding the company's reach into beauty, fashion and trendier concepts. When asked why she doesn't share that part of her life, she answered, "I just don't think people will be very interested in that."

What the public is truly interested in, naturally, is not just her insta-fabulous life but also her marriage to a man of equal power in Malaysia. On February 3rd, Chryseis married Faliq Nasimuddin of Naza Group, one of the biggest names in the motor-trade industry of Malaysia. It was a grand event, as one would expect from a power couple.

The multicultural wedding ceremony was an extravagant event complete with a guest list that included royalty and a performance by the boyband, Blue. The newlywed couple had their first dance to the song 'U make me wanna', as Blue sang live for the newlyweds and their guests.

Celebrity performances aside, the wedding was held at The Chateau at Bukit Tinggi, a luxe resort in Pahang. Chryseis chose to wear an intricately embroidered Yefta Gunawan wedding gown, complete with an elaborate train and veil. The epic dinner reception was by 1,300 guests from all over the world.

Fast forward to Nov 17, 2018, and the couple has decided to do a second wedding ceremony, this time in Japan.

When BAZAAR asked why Chryseis is planning a second one, she answered, "We wanted something intimate with our family and close friends, hence the second celebration."

The couple waited this long because autumn is Chryseis' favourite season and picked Kyoto, Japan also for the same aforementioned reason.

It was a melange of her favourite things, surrounded by her favourite people.

And for that, she needed a special dress. Scratch that, make it 2 special dresses! BAZAAR spent a day with Chryseis as the bride went about her wedding fittings in search for the perfect one in New York City.

It was important for Chryseis to support Asian designers hence she opted for Oscar De La Renta (who has Laura Kim as one of the creative directors) and Prabal Gurung.

First up was Oscar De La Renta, where the bride had a custom wedding gown fitted. The gown featured an off-shoulder bodice, adorned with hundreds of delicate lace flowers. The skirting was stunningly voluminous, accentuated with layers upon layers of tulle, creating an ethereal, feather-like effect. The long, white translucent veil was the cherry on top of this fairytale-like dress.

Prabal Gurung was next and the man himself was there to greet Chryseis at his headquarters. The custom dress featured a high-neck halter neckline, embellished with beads and crystals. Prabal and Chryseis opted for a slinkier, mermaid-style silhouette that had flat cutouts and see-through portions for a more modern feel.

Both dresses were, needless to say, stunning and fit for a princess.

The wedding ceremony will most definitely be an intimate yet lavish affair. Held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Kyoto, Japan, we couldn't think of a more fitting location to complement the incredible dresses Chryseis has picked for the big day. Set against the backdrop of amber autumn leaves, the night will truly be a magical one filled with loved ones.

Congratulations again, to Chryseis and Faliq!
