If Armen Petrosyan’s name rings a bell, that’s because he’s the brother of pound-for-pound kickboxing star Giorgio “The Doctor” Petrosyan.

After seeing his older brother make his ONE Super Series debut with an impressive win, Armen is following in his sibling’s footsteps by taking the plunge in the world’s largest martial arts organization.

Petrosyan (69-17-1) will take on two-time Muay Thai World Champion Chris “The African Warrior” Ngimbi (49-21) in a ONE Super Series kickboxing bout at ONE: REIGN OF KINGS in Manila, the Philippines.

Petrosyan comes into the contest with a host of titles to his name, including the ISKA, WKY, and WMTA world titles, and the 31-year-old is looking to make his mark in the planet’s premier striking series.

The bout will represent the third time Ngimbi has faced a member of the Petrosyan family – he lost twice to Giorgio by unanimous decision.

That means Armen will head into his meeting with “The African Warrior” armed with all the insider knowledge he could possibly need.

“I know my opponent very well,” he explains.

“Giorgio has already fought him in the past, so I had the chance to learn a lot of things.”

The bout will be Petrosyan’s first in ONE Super Series, while Ngimbi will be making his second appearance.

“The African Warrior” took Muay Thai legend Yodsanklai IWE Fairtex the distance in his first outing, but lost out by unanimous decision.

But despite seeing his opponent lose out on his ONE Super Series debut, Petrosyan has great respect for Ngimbi’s skills.

“I know I will have to be careful with him – in particular, his jumping knees. I have to make him play my game,” he says.

“I will be unpredictable. I will do the opposite of what he does, and what he expects.”

And with his brother in his corner, Petrosyan is confident he can achieve similar success in ONE Super Series, albeit in his own slightly different style.

But equally as important as winning for the Italian is giving the fans what they want – entertainment.

“It is my first bout in ONE,” he says.

“So I want to win, and have a great fight.”
