Bangkok cafe staff caught re-using cups from rubbish bin

While reduce, reuse, and recycle is encouraged these days, a cafe worker in Thailand may have taken the advice a little too far.

The female employee at a branch of Cafe Amazon was recently caught picking up used cups from the bin, rinsing them under the tap, and placing them aside so they could be used again.

She did this while happily chatting with her two colleagues.

The same cups were later used to serve drinks to unwitting customers, according to media reports.

A two-minute-long clip of her actions was circulated online on Aug 30, triggering angry responses from netizens.

A day after the video was leaked, the beverage chain issued a public apology for the woman's actions, and said that she had deviated from its standard procedure.

The affected store was closed from Aug 30 to Sept 2 for investigations.

Food safety concerns aside, customers took the opportunity to give the cafe feedback, saying that they're usually not served a full cup of coffee, and how the taste of their drink changed all the time.
