How Xiong Jing Nan Is Inspired To Succeed By Her Nephew

Xiong Jing Nan’s successes in ONE Championship have earned her countless fans in her native China, but she receives extra special support from one fan in particular – her nephew.
Xiong Sheng Ze is “The Panda’s” biggest fan, and his adoration for her has given her extra motivation every time she steps into competition.
“My brother told me that [my nephew] looks up to me,” says the ONE Women’s Strawweight World Champion.
“That means a lot to me. He is learning how to take responsibility, be confident, and be brave.”
Xiong has made clear her desire to be a role model to her compatriots and wants to use the platform of ONE to spread a positive message and help provide for her family.
Her influence has already rubbed off on her nephew.
“He would say, ‘I want to be like auntie. I will take care of my mother and father, and grandpa and grandma,’” she explains.
“I see he is very wonderful to his parents and grandparents. That’s the most important thing to me – being kind to the people around you.”
Xiong Sheng Ze has developed an interest in martial arts and, even though it is unsure whether he will eventually follow in his auntie’s footsteps, “The Panda” says she will happily teach him whatever he needs.
“We share a very tight and special bond,” the strawweight queen reveals.
“I’m not always at home because I train somewhere else, so we don’t see each other very often. But once we meet, he always asks me to play the ‘mixed martial arts game.’
“I really want him to try all possibilities, so he will know what he really wants in the end, but I do hope he can do some martial arts training to protect himself, and also his family and friends.”
Xiong will take on ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion Angela Lee at ONE: HEART OF THE LION in Singapore on 9 November.
As well as achieving victory, she says she hopes that she can continue to set a positive example, not just for her nephew, but for all her fans.
“I hope, not only for my nephew, but for everyone, that I can create a positive image, and I hope to spread positive energy to all.”
