Indonesia’s Elipitua Siregar Finds Quick Finish Via Ground And Pound

At just 21 years old, Elipitua Siregar is already an Indonesian wrestling champion, and the strawweight put his skills to good use at ONE: BEYOND THE HORIZON.
The man from Jakarta used his grappling technique and hand speed to score a technical knockout over Phat “Ice” Soda in the first round at the Baoshan Arena in Shanghai, China on Saturday, 8 September.
Soda came in motivated, as he was competing to pay for the hospital and funeral expenses for his terminally-ill father-in-law, but the Cambodian was unable to rise to the occasion.
As a three-time national Kun Khmer champion, Soda wanted to keep this contest on the feet, but after a minute’s feeling-out process, he found himself on his back courtesy of a Siregar takedown.
He tried to stall and stop any offence from his opponent with a tight closed guard, but a Siregar slam loosened the hold and exposed Soda to punches.
The Bali MMA representative let loose a flurry of ground and pound, and though his rival attempted to cover up, he could not stop many of the blows from landing, and could not respond or improve his decision.
The referee had no choice but to call a halt to the match-up at 2:30 of the first round.
With his second first-round stoppage in a row, Siregar continues his perfect, undefeated start to his career and will look for fresh challenges in the ONE Championship strawweight division to improve his 2-0 record.
