After a tough start in ONE Championship, Jeremy “The Jaguar” Miado found his rhythm, and knocked out the most significant opponent of his career.
The Filipino valiantly faced former ONE Strawweight World Champion, and three-time Lumpinee Stadium Muay Thai world champion, Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke, at ONE: IRON WILL at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand on Saturday, 24 March.
Miado was able to put away the hometown hero with a picture perfect right hook, and stunned the local crowd.
The fans were firmly behind Amnuaysirichoke, who regularly competed in Bangkok during the height of his Muay Thai career. They roared each time he pushed Miado backward towards the fence.
Despite appearances, this was not the way to catch the Filipino striker. Miado kept pawing at the range with his left hand to gauge the range, and when Amnuaysirichoke stepped forward to trade blows, Miado suddenly uncorked a massive right hook. The Thai legend went rigid, and fell backwards onto the mat.
Referee Yuji Shimada charged forward, and immediately stopped Miado from any follow-up blows. None were needed.
Everyone at the Impact Arena, except “The Jaguar,” was utterly stunned. The stoppage time came at 1:29 of round one, giving Miado the victory. He became the first man to knock out Amnuaysirichoke in 12 cage appearances.
The Filipino improves his record to 7-2, while Amnuaysirichoke falls to 8-4.
