Malaysian man suffers fatal heart attack during transit at Bangkok airport

A 53-year-old Malaysian man travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Hokkaido, Japan, died during transit at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok on Monday (Aug 10).
The man from Kedah was pronounced dead at a Bangkok hospital at 12.26am on Aug 10, according to the Malaysian Embassy in Bangkok.
Malaysian Ambassador to Thailand Datuk Wan Zaidi Wan Abdullah said the victim suffered a heart attack while transiting in Bangkok.
"The victim was brought to a hospital in Bangkok before the death certificate was issued, confirming that he died of a heart attack," he told Bernama on Wednesday.
His remains were collected by family members who were on the same flight.
Wan Zaidi also said that autopsies are not required in Thailand if a victim’s family wishes for one not to be performed.
The victim's remains were brought home via the Bukit Kayu Hitam land crossing on Wednesday, the New Straits Times reported.
