Petchdam Kaiyanghadao’s Stunning Knee Strike Seals ONE Super Series Debut Win

The ONE Super Series Muay Thai encounter between Thailand’s Petchdam Kaiyanghadao and Australia’s Josh “Timebomb” Tonna was always likely to be explosive, and it did not disappoint.

After consistently going after his opponent’s body with his feared left kick, Petchdam picked up a knockout win at 1:11 of round two at ONE: PURSUIT OF POWER in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Friday, 13 July.

Petchdam opened up with his most recognised weapon, a crunching kick from the southpaw stance, looking to score to the legs and body.

“Timebomb” tried to reply with his hands, closing the distance to stay out of kicking range, and had some success with hard punching combinations. However, the accuracy of the shin to the body from the Thai was taking its toll.

Tonna looked to change tack early in round two, landing a low kick of his own, and following with a volley of punches. As he grew in confidence and pushed forward, he began to present more gaps in his defence for Petchdam to exploit.

The Thai let rip with a hellacious left body kick, which did double damage. The shin scored a direct hit to the body, while his knee collided with Tonna’s chin, sending the Australian tumbling to the mat.

He could not respond to the referee’s count, and it gave the charismatic Bangkok native an impressive second-round knockout win in his ONE Super Series debut.

Fans will be keen to see more of his all-action style in the flyweight division, and the WBC Muay Thai World Champion’s quality means he will enter immediately in the flyweight title picture.

The 20-year-old’s professional record improves to 91-13-7 in victory.
