The 36-year-old was reportedly visiting her boyfriend when the alleged crime happened.
He allegedly crammed her into a suitcase and hid her body in a freezer at his workplace in Taichung on Sept 12.
The 43-year-old suspect, known only as Wu, is an employee of the technology company, according to Taiwanese news outlet United Daily News.
The pair had reportedly been in a long-distance relationship for a year after first meeting in Thailand, and occasionally travelled to each other's countries to meet.
The woman landed in Taiwan on Sept 2 and was scheduled to return to Thailand on Sept 14, reported Taiwanese news channel mnews.
In a statement on Saturday (Sept 20), the local police said that her Taiwanese friends reported her missing on Friday.
The police found out that she was staying at a local hotel in Ximending after tracking her using surveillance footage, according to United Daily News.
They discovered that Wu had allegedly visited her and left the next morning alone with a large black suitcase.
Based on surveillance footage, they also observed him keeping the suitcase in a car before driving off to Taichung, mnews reported.
Wu told the police that he was enraged when she wanted to break up and "accidentally" strangled her during the dispute.
He allegedly packed her body into the suitcase, drove to Taichung and hid the corpse in a freezer at his workplace, covering it in a plastic bag to prevent his colleagues from finding out.
It was left there for six days before the police discovered the corpse on Sept 19.
Wu has been arrested and the case has been referred to prosecutors based on suspicion of murder.
