Wedding bells have rung for My Secret Terrius' star So Ji-sub. Earlier today (April 7), his agency released a media statement announcing the Korean heartthrob's nuptials to Jo Eun-jung.

The couple completed their marriage registration today, holding a quiet wedding with only their immediate families present.

And with the coronavirus pandemic looming overhead, they added they will donate 50 million won (S$58,000) to the charity Good Neighbours to offer comfort and hope to people experiencing hard times. In addition, Ji-sub and Jo will provide tablets and smart devices to support the education of children who are less privileged.

His agency added they were not able to reveal more details of their marriage as Jo is a non-celebrity.

Ji-sub also posted on his agency's official Instagram account, saying: "This is one of the most important decisions in my life that took so long to make."

While he feels that this may not be the perfect time to announce his marriage, he hopes that everyone can continue to support and encourage him, as well as stay healthy during this period.

While the news is sure to break a few hearts, some might also be wondering who the bride is.

In May last year, the 42-year-old actor admitted to being in a one-year relationship with Jo, who was a television broadcaster then.

Jo, who is 17 years younger than Ji-sub, debuted as a presenter for the popular online game League of Legends on cable channel OGN in 2014, and was later promoted to reporting for SBS's One Night of Entertainment from 2016 to 2018.

According to media reports, Jo interviewed Ji-sub for a film, and sparks flew.

In early 2019, she terminated the contract with her agency and removed all of her official social media accounts on Facebook and Instagram, leaving the entertainment industry in preparation for graduate school.

In a letter to his fans in 2019, Ji-sub said: "It's still too early to bring up marriage."

In response to queries by News1, his agency clarified that it was not a shotgun marriage but rather, "they naturally decided on marriage after seeing each other with positive feelings".
