Watch: Singapore's MBS the scene of murder in popular manga Detective Conan's new movie

Not content with dominating the live-action Crazy Rich Asians, Singapore and Marina Bay will next appear on the big screen in animated form.

In a teaser released on Tuesday (Dec 11), the latest movie in the wildly-popular Detective Conan franchise is shown to be set in the Lion City.

Marina Bay Sands (MBS) and its infinity pool, the Merlion and even Keppel's prominent cranes make an appearance in the 32-second clip.

Given that Detective Conan (also known as Case Closed) is an anime, our Merlion, for good measure, spews blood instead of water.

As the first instalment set outside Japan, it’s unclear whether Singlish would be heard in the film.

Detective Conan was created by Gosho Aoyama as a manga in 1994, about the eponymous character who was transformed into a child.

Detective Conan: The Fist of Blue Sapphire is the 23rd movie and will be released on Apr 12, exactly one year after Detective Conan: Zero the Enforcer, the highest-earning film in the franchise.

The plot centres on a blue sapphire eyed by gentleman thief Kaito Kid, a crossover character from another Aoyama manga, Magic Kaito.

There probably won’t be a ripped Pierre Png sauntering around half-naked, but based on the teaser, there will be lots of karate, featuring the exponent Makoto Kyogoku.

Also, murder at MBS. We're sold.

If you're wondering where Conan figures in all this, watch the clip.
