In a social media post on Saturday (Aug 15), Malaysia Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced that the Government will be offering special Madani tickets for its citizens.
"Following discussions and agreement with Bahrain, the Government is delighted to announce special Madani tickets for MyKad (Malaysia's identity card) holders at an affordable price of as low as RM200 (S$62.70) for access throughout the three-day event," Malaysia's tenth prime minister wrote in his post.
He added that the initiative is intended to provide opportunities for more Malaysians to personally experience the Formula 1 thrill live at Sepang.
Details on the Madani tickets will be announced at a later date, Anwar added.
In a separate update on its social media page, SIC said that there will be a limited number of such specially priced tickets.
It added that such tickets can be purchased through the race's official website once it becomes fully operational.
Formula 1 last raced at the Sepang International Circuit on Oct 1, 2017. It was removed from the calendar owing to rising hosting costs and licensing fees.
Tickets for the October race went on sale on Aug 13.
International fans will pay between RM895 and RM2,315 for three-day tickets, with main grandstand tickets priced at RM2,315, followed by the F Grandstand at RM1,538, K1 Grandstand at RM1,430, and B and C Hillstands at RM895.
In comparison, tickets for the Singapore Grand Prix from Oct 9 to 11 starts from S$198 for a walkabout ticket, to S$2,498 for a Super Pit Grandstand ticket.
