A 14-year-old boy was found dead on Tuesday (Oct 27) night following a crocodile attack in Sarawak, Malaysia. He was reported missing on Monday afternoon.

His body was discovered by a villager who had spotted a crocodile carrying something in its mouth on Tuesday, said a spokesperson from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department.

The villager was returning to Kampung Tuba after visiting the boy's family in Kampung Plaie when he saw the crocodile, New Straits Times reported.

"The resident returned to the location and found the victim's body, which was believed to have been regurgitated by the crocodile," said the fire department's spokesperson.

Preliminary examination revealed that the deceased was missing several body parts. Bite marks and other injuries were also found on the body.

The boy was identified as Mohamad Nordin Mohamad Othman, The Borneo Post reported.

His body was taken to Simunjan Hospital by the police.

According to local reports, the boy was attacked on Monday while loading oil palm fruits into a boat.

The incident was witnessed by his uncle, who then informed the village head.

A search and rescue operation was called off on Wednesday upon the discovery of the boy's body.
