PCG, CNB seize over 8kg of cocaine from foreign-registered vessel at Singapore anchorage

PUBLISHED ONAugust 07, 2026 10:56 AMBYSean LerMore than 8kg of cocaine was seized from a foreign-registered commercial vessel following a joint operation by the Police Coast Guard (PCG) and the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB).
The police said in a statement on Friday (Aug 7) that the operation was conducted on Wednesday, at the Raffles Reserved Anchorage — located between Pulau Senang and Pulau Semakau.
The operation was launched after they were alerted to suspicious packages found on board a foreign-registered commercial vessel.
Officers from the Police Coast Guard (PCG) then boarded the vessel and conducted a systematic search, during which they uncovered eight packages believed to contain controlled drugs concealed in the vessel's sea chest strainers.
Police said they then alerted CNB to the discovery. The packages subsequently tested positive for cocaine and were seized by the CNB.
Preliminary investigations by CNB revealed that the drugs were transiting through Singapore and were not intended for the local market.
CNB's investigations are ongoing.
Under the Misuse of Drugs Act, those found guilty of importing into or exporting from Singapore more than 30g of cocaine could face the mandatory death penalty.
