Outdoor and non-air-conditioned facilities at all ActiveSG sports centres have been temporarily closed due to the evolving haze situation, Sport Singapore (SportSG) announced on Friday (Oct 16) noon.

In its latest advisory, SportSG said that the move is part of its precautionary measures to safeguard the well-being of its facility users.

Indoor and air-conditioned facilities, however, will remain open at all ActiveSG sport centres, it added.

Since Wednesday, SportSG has been announcing the temporary closure of some facilities based on the latest hourly PM2.5 concentration reading.

According to the National Environment Agency's outdoor activities planning guide, healthy persons should avoid all strenuous outdoor activities for the next hour, when PM2.5 is in the high band (readings of between 151 and 250).

Vulnerable persons, including the elderly, pregnant women, children, and those with chronic lung disease or heart disease, are advised to avoid all outdoor activity for the next hour in such conditions.

Air quality in Singapore deteriorated on Friday, with 24-hour Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) in the very unhealthy range in the central, eastern and western regions.

At 1pm, hourly PM2.5 is in the high band across Singapore.
