Bei-Ing Wanton Noodle elderly hawker confrontation: Hawker suffers fractured back after being shoved


PUBLISHED ONAugust 19, 2026 9:00 AMBYKoh Xing YingA 73-year-old food stall operator who was allegedly shoved to the ground by a customer at a coffee shop in East Coast last week has reportedly suffered a fractured back following the incident.
Yeo Song Khoon, who runs Bei-Ing Wanton Noodle at Roxy Square, was found to have fractured his back following a medical examination, 8days reported.
Yeo's doctor had reportedly advised the elderly man and his family that spinal surgery would be the best treatment option, adding that if Yeo does not undergo surgery, he would instead require physiotherapy and medication.
The development comes after Yeo was allegedly shoved to the ground by a man at the coffeeshop on Aug 15, after Yeo patted the man's young daughter's head.
According to social media posts by Bei-Ing Wanton Noodle, the man later apologised and offered to buy Yeo a drink, saying he had been "overprotective".
When AsiaOne visited the food court on Thursday (Aug 19), the area was quiet, with few customers around.
The stall was closed, with a notice informing customers that it would remain closed on Aug 18 and 19 before reopening on Aug 20.
In an Instagram story posted by Bei-Ing Wanton Noodle on Aug 17, Yeo was seen seated in a wheelchair and wearing a hospital gown.
The accompanying caption said that Yeo had finally decided to seek medical attention, despite initially being reluctant to get checked.

Since the incident went viral, the man involved in the incident has been the subject of intense online speculation, with netizens attempting to identify him and his wife through a range of clues shared online, including details as granular as the appearance of her feet and toes.
In the latest media advisory, the police urged members of the public to refrain from speculating about the incident or its circumstances, and to allow the police to conduct investigations and establish the facts of the case.
The police said that a 40-year-old man has been identified in connection with the incident, and that investigations are ongoing.
