As fans get ready to secure tickets to Bruno Mars' The Romantic Tour concert in Singapore, the police have reminded members of the public to remain vigilant against concert ticket scams.

Ticket sales for the April 2027 concert are expected to begin on Friday (Sept 11), and that could be the time when concert ticket scammers strike, the police said in an advisory on Tuesday (Sept 8) night.

They added that the scam variant typically resurfaces whenever there is strong interest in major concert events.

Scammers would typically exploit the high demand for tickets by posting fraudulent listings for non-existent tickets or ticket-purchasing services on social media platforms, online market places, and messaging applications.

Victims of this scam variant who make payment for such "tickets" may either receive nothing, or end up being issued with invalid tickets.

Concert goers are advised to purchase concert tickets only from Ticketmaster, the authorised ticketing platform.

They should also note that these tickets are strictly non-transferrable and non-resaleable, and are strongly advised to refrain from buying tickets from unverified sellers, regardless of the price offered.

The police said they have also reached out to platforms such as Carousell, Facebook Marketplace and TikTok to request the removal of such resale concert ticket listings.

Meta's commerce policies and Facebook Marketplace already do not allow content that promotes the buying, selling, or trading of event tickets.

Remember, if it is too good to be true, it most likely isn't.
