The Ministry of Health has reported 334 new coronavirus cases in Singapore today (April 14). Out of these, 198 cases are linked to known clusters, 22 to other cases, and 114 as yet unlinked.
Case 128, a 70-year-old male Singaporean, died today from complications due to Covid-19. He was diagnosed with Covid-19 on March 6, and was linked to the cluster involving the private dinner function at SAFRA Jurong. NCID has reached out to his family and is extending assistance to them.
There are no imported cases and 25 more cases have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities.
Of the 1,315 cases who are still in hospital, most are in stable condition or improving. 28 are in critical condition, while 1,316 cases who are clinically well but still test positive for Covid-19 are isolated and cared for at community facilities.
At a press conference today, the Health Ministry's director of medical services, Associate Professor Kenneth Mak, explained the unlinked cases do not necessarily mean that there is an unknown source of transmission and thus, community spread.
Some of the numbers are from active testing done in dormitories, and it takes time to compile and match the figures.
He added: "So, in fact, out of the proportion that are as yet unlinked, you will find that over the next few days that number whittles down progressively as we link them to existing clusters."
This brings the total number of cases to 3,252, with 611 patients discharged and 10 deaths.
