According to the National Environmental Agency, such cleaning is conducted regularly so that Singaporeans can enjoy affordable food in a clean and hygienic environment.
The hawker centres undergoing cleaning include Margaret Drive Hawker Centre, Teck Ghee Court Hawker Centre, and The Hawker Centre @ Our Tampines Hub.

In addition, the hawker centre at Telok Blangah Rise Block 36, also known as Telok Blangah Rise Market, is undergoing repairs and redecoration works from Nov 1 to Dec 30.
Works for Bukit Timah Market, the hawker centre at Block 726 Clementi West Street 2, and Kim Keat Palm Market and Food Centre are ongoing till Dec 31, Dec 27 and Dec 13 respectively.
There are a total of 123 markets and hawker centres across Singapore.
