The 3,208 sq ft house, sitting on a land area of 9,418 sq ft, was recently put up for a two-year lease by the Singapore Land Authority (SLA).
According to its State Property Information Online (SIPO) portal, the property at 15 Ross Avenue is to be used for residential purposes only.
Ross Avenue is believed to have been named after Nobel Prize-winning physician Sir Ronald Ross, who is known for his pioneering research on malaria.
The neighbourhood was home to university educators, while the house counts the former head of the School of Architecture at the University of Singapore among its former tenants, SLA said.

The University of Singapore was the predecessor of the National University of Singapore.
"The house itself has plenty of architectural character. Look closer and you'll spot intricate star-shaped and floral patterns on the window grilles, along with elegant scrollwork on the balcony railings.
"Inside, high ceilings, large windows, a sheltered verandah and an upper-floor balcony offer airy spaces to unwind and enjoy the surrounding greenery," the authority wrote in its introduction of the property.

It is one of several heritage houses along Ross Avenue and nearby Leyden Hill, which takes its name from Malay language and literature scholar John Leyden.
