PUBLISHED ONAugust 21, 2026 9:58 AMBYSean LerKatanas, knuckledusters and drugs worth more than $105,500 were seized during an islandwide anti-drug operation that led to the arrest of 81 suspected drug offenders.
The Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) said in a news release on Friday (Aug 21) that its officers carried out the operation from Aug 17 to 21, covering areas such as Punggol, Toa Payoh and Telok Blangah.
About 529g of Ice, 375g of heroin, 27g of cannabis, 10g of ketamine, 10g of 'Ecstasy' and 11 Erimin-5 tablets were seized.
According to CNB, the heroin, Ice and cannabis seized could potentially feed the addiction of 484 abusers for a week.
Among those caught were four men and two women, aged between 26 and 46, who were arrested for suspected drug trafficking offences.
The first suspect, a 38-year-old Singaporean man, was arrested at about noon on Aug 17.
He was caught at a lift landing of a residential block in the vicinity of Punggol Field.
He was subsequently escorted to a unit in the same block. CNB said officers had to force entry into the unit after its occupants refused to comply with lawful orders to open the door.
Officers also noticed objects, later established to be drug paraphernalia, being thrown out of the unit's bedroom window.
During a search of the unit, a total of 439g of Ice, 300g of heroin, 22g of cannabis, 9g of ketamine, 10g of 'Ecstasy' and one Erimin-5 tablet were uncovered.
Inside the unit, officers arrested a 40-year-old foreign national, a 46-year-old Singaporean man, a 26-year-old Singaporean man and a 36-year-old Singaporean woman for suspected drug trafficking offences.
Later that day, a 40-year-old woman returned to the unit and was also arrested for suspected drug trafficking offences.
Officers also found an assortment of weapons in the unit, including a dagger, knuckledusters, katanas and knives. The weapons were seized and handed over to the police. Police investigations are ongoing.
Under the Misuse of Drugs Act, it is an offence for anyone to traffic or offer to traffic in a controlled drug, regardless of whether they are doing it on their own behalf, or on the behalf of another person.
If found guilty of trafficking more than 15g of diamorphine (or pure heroin), or more than 250g of methamphetamine, the offender may face the mandatory death penalty.
Investigations into the drug activities of all arrested suspects are ongoing, the bureau said.
