A 51-year-old man was arrested after allegedly causing a disturbance and hurling vulgarities and threats at police officers at Chinatown MRT station on Sunday (Oct 11).

In response to queries from AsiaOne, the police said they received a call for assistance at about 4.30pm that day.

Upon arrival, officers found the man appearing intoxicated and refusing to comply with instructions from station staff.

The officers attempted to engage him, but he continued to refuse their instructions and started causing a disturbance, police said.

While the officers were effecting an arrest, the man hurled vulgarities and threats at them.

He was subsequently arrested for drunkenness in a public place and using abusive language against a public servant. Police investigations are ongoing.

A video of the incident, posted on Chinese social media platform Xiaohongshu, shows four police officers restraining a man wearing a dark green shirt against a wall at the station.

Several commuters can be seen walking past, while others gather nearby to observe the incident. A staff member is present to usher them along and ensure they keep moving.
