'Bring HP4 go toilet': Man washes motorcycle in accessible loo; NParks investigating

Is washing a motorcycle inside an accessible toilet cubicle at a public park an offence?

That's one of the questions being raised online, after a man was filmed giving his motorcycle a wash inside a toilet stall at Kent Ridge Park.

The National Parks Board (NParks) said it is aware of the video and is investigating the matter.

In a video shared on Instagram on July 29, a man wearing a white shirt and black pants can be seen inside a toilet cubicle with a motorcycle parked inside. 

He appears to be spraying and washing the vehicle while laughing with another person, who is believed to be recording the video.

The incident sparked mixed reactions online. 

Some netizens defended the man's actions, while others criticised his use of the public facility. 

"I see nothing wrong, he is not disturbing anyone or destroying public property," said one user. 

Another raised safety concerns, writing: "Washing a bike in a handicap toilet — What happens if one of them slip and fall on the wet floor?"

Others felt that using an accessible toilet to wash a motorcycle was inappropriate.

"Pushing a motorcycle into a public park toilet and using the water to wash it is definitely an offense. It violates public property, park rules and public cleanliness laws," one commenter wrote. 

Responding to queries from AsiaOne, NParks group director for parks Chua Yen Ling said the agency is aware of a video circulating online showing a man washing a motorcycle in a toilet cubicle at Kent Ridge Park.

Chua added that NParks is looking into the matter and that investigations are ongoing.

Under the Parks and Trees Act regulations, bringing, riding or driving a vehicle in a national park, nature reserve or public park outside designated areas is an offence.

Those found guilty of breaching the regulations may face a fine of up to $2,000 upon conviction.
