SINGAPORE - Minister Grace Fu from the People's Action Party's (PAP) has announced that she will defend her Yuhua seat in the coming General Election (GE).
According to local media reports, the 51-year-old made the official announcement at the PAP Yuhua branch on Saturday.
In a video media interview, Ms Fu said of the changes in Jurong: "I think from the residents' point of view, they would like to continue to keep this place a little kampung that they're familiar with despite the changes.
"Some of the major changes can sometimes be unsettling for the residents who have been long-time residents here. We'll like to make the change as comfortable (for) them as possible," she added.
At the 2011 GE, Ms Fu won 66.86 per cent of the vote against Singapore Democratic Party candidate Teo Soh Lung.
She has held the posts of Minister in the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister for the Environment and Water Resources and for Foreign Affairs since 2012.
