PUBLISHED ONAugust 27, 2026 9:38 AMBYSean LerThe police are looking for the driver of a blue Toyota saloon car after a hit-and-run in Sengkang on Thursday (Aug 27) morning.
The incident happened at about 6.20am on Sengkang East Road towards Buangkok Road, just opposite Sengkang Neighbourhood Police Centre (NPC) and Sengkang General Hospital.
Photographs and a video of the incident circulating on social media show the car stopped on the traffic island at the junction of Sengkang East Way and Sengkang East Road.
A traffic light was knocked over, possibly from the impact of the accident.
Two Traffic Police officers attending to the scene were later joined by at least four other police officers. They were seen searching the vehicle.
Responding to AsiaOne's queries, the police said the car is believed to have skidded, adding that no injuries were reported.
The police said that the driver had left the scene before officers arrived, and that effort is now underway to trace the driver amid ongoing investigations.
Under the Road Traffic Act, a traffic accident report must be lodged when the accident involves damage to government property.
Those who fail to take reasonable steps to inform the owner of a damaged property about the damage can be fined up to $1,000 or jailed for up to three months for a first offence.
