Patients at Singapore General Hospital's (SGH) Accident and Emergency Department (A&E) may experience longer wait times.

In a Facebook post published on Thursday (Oct 8), the hospital stated that it is seeing a "high number of patients" at its A&E, adding that hospital beds are in high demand.

"As a result, patients who require admission may experience a longer wait for a bed."

However, the hospital assured patients that they will continue to receive care in the A&E, including any necessary treatment, while awaiting admission.

Meanwhile, critically ill patients will continue to be prioritised according to the urgency of their condition during triage.

SGH urged those with non-urgent conditions to seek medical attention at a general practitioner or polyclinic.

"We appreciate your patience and understanding as our teams work to care for every patient," it said.
