Singapore has condemned the recent attacks on Saudi Arabia's civilian infrastructure by Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthis.

In a statement on Friday (Oct 9), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said such attacks have resulted in the loss of lives and injuries to civilians.

"Such attacks are unacceptable and cannot be justified," it added.

Houthis escalated their campaign of strikes against Saudi Arabia over this week.

On Thursday, they tried to shut down the kingdom's airspace and oil facilities with missile fire that killed three people and left a plane badly damaged.

The group said it had struck Riyadh airport and warned workers to stay away from energy plants, which would be targeted.

Saudi officials also said debris from an intercepted missile had hit a kindergarten and medical complex in Riyadh.

A Saudi-led coalition fighting the Houthis vowed retaliation, saying the attacks "will not go unpunished".

In a statement issued late on Wednesday, the coalition said it had attacked more than 80 Houthi military sites across the governorates of Saada, Hodeidah, Jawf and Marib.

Meanwhile, oil prices settled four per cent higher on Thursday on revived concerns about the ongoing war in the Middle East and growing supply disruptions due to a hurricane approaching the US Gulf Coast.
