The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) on Tuesday (Oct 13) advised Singaporeans to defer all travel to Saudi Arabia, amid heightened security risks following an increase in missile and drone attacks targeting civilian aviation and energy infrastructure since July 2026.

It noted that airports in Riyadh, Abha, Dammam, Khamis Mushait, Najran and Jizan have been hit in recent weeks, while Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport (KKIA) has been attacked repeatedly, resulting in the suspension of airport operations, flight diversions, and increasingly frequent airspace shutdowns.

"Given the heightened security risks, Singaporeans are advised to defer all travel to Saudi Arabia," MFA said.

Singaporeans already in Saudi Arabia should avoid all travel to KKIA and other high-risk areas until further notice. They are also advised to avoid non-essential travel within the Kingdom.

Those who have booked a flight to, or are transiting in Saudi Arabia, are encouraged to check with their airlines for the latest travel information, confirm their flight on the day of travel, and purchase travel insurance before their trip.

They are advised to monitor local news closely and follow the instructions of local authorities.

MFA also reminded Singaporeans who must travel to Saudi Arabia or who are currently in the Middle East to be prepared for travel disruptions at short notice.

In its travel advisory for Saudi Arabia on Tuesday evening, the ministry also urged Singaporeans in Saudi Arabia and the region to eRegister with them.

Doing so will allow consular officers to get in touch with them when the need arises, MFA explained.

Singaporeans who require mental health support due to the current situation can contact the national mindline at 1771 (from Singapore), or +65-6669-1771 (for calls from outside Singapore and WhatsApp).
