Thundery showers expected over many areas of Singapore on Sept 22 afternoon; flash floods reported in Bukit Timah

It's another wet afternoon in Singapore, with heavy rain expected over many areas on Tuesday (Sept 22) afternoon.

The Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS) said in an advisory at 1.05pm that moderate to heavy thundery showers are expected over many areas of Singapore between 1.30pm to 3pm. This was later extended to 6.30pm.

Flash floods were reported at King's Road — from Prince Road to Lutheran Road, and at Coronation Road — from Prince Road to Bukit Timah Road at about 5.15pm.

According to national water agency PUB, the flash floods subsided at about 5.28pm.

In addition, flash flood warnings for the following areas are in force:

• Junction of Gul Circle and Gul Avenue (from 4.41pm to 5.41pm)
• Junction of Craig Road and Tanjong Pagar Road (from 4.43pm to 5.43pm)
• King's Road, from Prince Road to Lutheran Road (from 4.47pm to 5.47pm)
• Watten Drive (from 4.46pm to 5.46pm)
• Hillcrest Road, from Watten Rise to Dunearn Road (from 4.52pm to 5.52pm)
• Cluny Park Road, from Jalan Kembang Melati to Bukit Timah Road (from 4.54pm to 5.545pm)
• Junction of Queen's Road and Lutheran Road (from 4.58pm to 5.58pm)
• Junction of Commonwealth Lane and Commonwealth Drive (from 4.55pm to 5.55pm)
• Coronation Road (from 5.03pm to 6.03pm)
• Punggol Way at the slip road to Tampines Expressway (from 5.08pm to 6.08pm)

In its fortnightly weather forecast issued on Sept 16, NEA had said localised short-duration thundery showers are expected between the late morning and afternoon over most parts of the island on most days.

Meanwhile, Singapore's 24-hour Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) at 5pm ranged from 60 to 78, in the moderate range.

One-hour PM2.5 is in the normal band for all regions.
