Teen screams after spotting phone filming her in shower; voyeur had also targeted teen's mother

A 19-year-old teenager and her mother were secretly filmed in the toilet by a voyeur on multiple occasions.

On Tuesday (Oct 27), the 20-year-old man pleaded guilty to two charges of voyeurism, with another similar charge to be taken into consideration in sentencing, reported Shin Min Daily News.

The publication did not name the offender due to a gag order imposed to protect the identities of the victims.

According to Shin Min, the teenage girl screamed upon discovering a phone recording her in the shower on the night of April 8.

Court documents reportedly state that the man was on his way to a fitness corner of a HDB estate when he passed by the victim's residence. The HDB estate was not named in the report.

He climbed over the wall and peered into the room but could not tell if anyone was inside because his view was obscured by the curtains.

The man returned to the fitness corner. 

About 30 minutes later, the man heard the shower sound. He returned to the unit, walked outside the bathroom, began a phone recording, and placed the device through the bathroom window.

He fled when the girl screamed.

The teen's mother, 55, lodged a police report, and the man was identified.

During police investigations, additional voyeuristic videos were found on his phone, reported Shin Min.

The man had secretly filmed the teen's mother preparing to shower on March 22.

Between March 30 and April 8, he also filmed the girl showering, changing clothes, or using the toilet on 10 separate occasions.

The teen reportedly felt depressed, vulnerable, and felt unsafe at home after his offences were uncovered.

The offender will be sentenced in December.
