President Tharman to meet Thai King, PM Anutin during Thailand visit


PUBLISHED ONOctober 11, 2026 10:00 AMBYSean LerPresident Tharman Shanmugaratnam will make a one-day working visit to Thailand on Monday (Oct 12), his office announced in a statement on Sunday.
According to the President's Office, President Tharman will have a royal audience with King Maha Vajiralongkorn and his wife Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana.
He will also be hosted to tea by Thai Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul.
During his visit, President Tharman will speak at a flagship event on artificial intelligence (AI) and jobs titled "Small AI: More and Better Jobs" at the 2026 annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group.
The President is currently co-chair of the World Bank's High-Level Advisory Council on Jobs.
He will be accompanied by his wife, Mrs Jane Ittogi Shanmugaratnam, and officials from the President's Office and Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
