PUBLISHED ONAugust 31, 2026 7:19 AMBYSean LerA 25-year-old Indian national was charged with alleged murder on Monday (Aug 31) after he killed a man he knew in Tuas on Saturday night.
Muruganathan Kathirvel is accused of murdering 29-year-old Raj Maheshkumar at Tuas South Avenue 9 at about 10pm on Aug 29.
A charge sheet seen by AsiaOne stated that Muruganathan killed his victim by slashing him at the neck area with a chopper.
In their statement on Sunday, the police had said that the accused and his victim were known to each other.
The 29-year-old was found lying motionless on the road and later pronounced dead at the scene by a Singapore Civil Defence Force paramedic.
The police also said that investigations are ongoing.
Muruganathan, who appeared in court via video link, dressed in a red polo shirt, has been remanded for a week.
His case will be heard again on Sept 7.
The offence of murder carries the death penalty.
